Leadership Program

Perhaps one of the programs we are most proud of here at Bloomington ATA Black Belt Academy is our Leadership program. The Leadership Program was developed by the ATA to develop future leaders, not only for the ATA, but for our community and America.

Our Leadership Program is our highest level program. Students in our Leadership Program have not only committed to train to Black Belt and beyond, but have also committed to being leaders, not only in our school, but in life. These students are working to share the benefits of martial arts training, by being leaders for others to follow and setting a standard of "Black Belt Leadership Excellence" in all that they do in life.

Leadership Program members will receive a special collar on their uniform - Red/White/Blue for Junior Leaders and Red for Adult leaders - this collar represents their commitment to be a leader. They will also receive a special Leadership Patch that will be worn on their left sleeve of their uniform. These visual reminders act to keep them focused, and to remind them be role models that others want to follow.

Like the Black Belt Club and Master Club, Leadership Program members have a special weekly Leadership Class to attend (see Schedule). During these special Leadership Classes, students will learn advance Leadership ATA Life Skills, learn Leadership Skills - such as goal setting, casting a vision, being proactive, and more; learn advanced weapon training with Sam Dan Bong (three-sectional staff), Ssang Knat (Kama), Gum Do (sword), and Ground Fighting, as well as all Black Belt Club and Master Club Training as well.

Junior Leadership for Karate for Kids

Our Junior Leadership Program for Karate for kids is designed to teach kids 7-12, how lead in school, and not just follow the crowd. It teaches our kids to resist peer pressure and do the right thing. Our Junior Leaders learn how to set an example and be a role model. Junior Leaders have opportunities to assist in classes and act as role models for other students. Older Junior Leaders are encouraged to mentor younger kids and teach them by setting an example.

Adult Leadership

Our Adult Leadership Program is designed to teach adults how to succeed not only in Taekwondo, but in all areas of their lives. The adults learn skills such as being proactive, goal setting, presenting themselves as leaders, and guiding and mentoring others. Adult Leaders may assist in Taekwondo classes to gain experience leading others and being a mentor to lower rank students. Learning the skills to assist and guide, and ultimately to lead others is invaluable to any one succeeding in life.
